Holly Reed

Alwayz First

Dii Shooda, Baalashe Basaanahguush biik. My crow name is Frequently First/Takes First Always my name is Holly Reed I’m a Whistling Water and child of the Bad War Deeds I was raised in Crow Agency with my grandmother Grace Bellrock. She was the one who first taught me how to bad when I was a little girl. My adopted mother Roberta “Bobbi Sox” has also guided me and taught me more traditional ways, new techniques and has been my biggest supporter along with my family. I am a mother of three: Gracie-Beth, Brittny, and Christien George. I am happily married to my wife Christine Nomee. I am a Personal Care Assistant with a company here in Billings and will be going back to Nursing school in the Fall at Salish Kootenai college.
It always give me butterflies seeing people wearing my art. I call my creations Alwayz First, and have hopes to create a small business out of my art.
I have family and friends who inspire and motivate me to continue my journey. So many in the beading community have taught me so much. I am very grateful to have these wonderful people in my corner.
I would not be able to continue if it wasn’t for my wife Christine. She supplies my beads, pellon, hide, etc. From setting me up at bazaars, displaying my creations for online posting, giving me pricing and hyping me up if I’m don’t think it looks good she is right there. She learned to work with leather (regalia belts) from my mom. So she learns right along with me. Our kids are in the powwow circle so we constantly need to fix or make them something.
