Mitchell began pursuing his artistic career after becoming disabled from a car accident. He began with pencils, and then fell in love with pen because of the defined, crisp lines he can achieve with them. Mitchell also began to paint with acrylic paints, which allow him to bring a colorful element to his creations.

Mitchell’s style is representative of his culture and growing up in Montana. Influenced by his culture and wildlife, many of his works showcase Indigneous people, dancers, landscapes, and animals. Mitchell’s works are often inspired by his visions about his people.

In addition to being an artist, Mitchell is an actor, speaker, and strong advocate for disability rights and the mental health of all people.
