Tally Monteau

Tally Monteau is a proud Tribal member of the Hunkpati Dakota Oyate from the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation and a descendant of the Chippewa-Cree Tribe from Rocky Boy’s Reservation. As an artist, educator, and advocate, she brings extensive knowledge of Indigenous traditions, creative expression, and economic empowerment to her work with the Triia Program.

Tally holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education and an Associate of Arts in Lakota Language, History, & Culture from Sinte Gleska University, equipping her with both academic and cultural education that informs her work in the arts and tourism industries. With many years working in the cultural arts field, she is dedicated to advancing Indigenous representation and economic opportunities for Native artists and creative entrepreneurs.

Her passion for advocacy drives her efforts to empower Indigenous artists by providing resources, mentorship, and pathways to sustainable creative businesses. Through her work, she emphasizes the significance of Indigenous art as not only a cultural expression but also a catalyst for economic growth, resilience, and community empowerment.

By integrating traditional knowledge with contemporary business strategies, Tally actively works to bridge the gap between cultural preservation and economic development. Her commitment to Indigenous sovereignty in the arts and tourism industries continues to shape her approach as she collaborates with artists, organizations, and communities to build a thriving, self-sustaining creative economy.
